about me

I fell in love with sports massage while studying Physiotherapy at university. My journey has taken me from working with football teams to providing care in private clinics. Having experienced injuries and long rehabilitation processes myself, I understand the importance of tailored, compassionate care.

My goal is to help others enhance their performance, recover from injuries, and maintain their overall well-being through expert sports massage therapy.

FAQ

can I have a sports massage if I don't play sports?

Absolutely! Sports massage is beneficial for everyone, not just athletes. I specialise in treating everyday individuals - whether you spend hours over a desk at work and have tight shoulders and neck as a result, need to keep up with kids, or simply want relief from stress. It’s also effective for addressing non-sports-related injuries or helping you stay in the best shape to prevent future injuries.

what should I wear/bring?

For lower limb work, it's recommended to bring shorts. Alternatively, you will be asked to remove trousers and towels will be provided for coverage.

For upper limb work, you will be asked to remove your t-shirt for the session and towels will be provided for coverage.

For those wearing bras, removing them may help to provide a more efficient treatment if you’re hoping to focus on the upper limb. However, you are welcome to leave them on, but please wear one that allows easy access especially to the shoulders and back. Note that some sports bras, due to their high coverage, might limit the thoroughness of the treatment.

There is a privacy screen within the clinic so however you are comfortable to proceed, you will have the opportunity to get ready in a private space.

will it be painful?

You may experience some discomfort, especially when targeting tight or tense muscles. However, it should not be painful! We always adjust our pressure to suit your preferences, whether you prefer deeper tissue work or lighter techniques. Your comfort is our priority.

can I exercise after a session?

There are no strict rules on exercising post-treatment. However, to optimize the benefits, it’s advisable to avoid heavy lifting (such as in the gym) for 24 hours. Lighter activities such as walking, yoga, pilates, and stretching are highly recommended.

what happens once I’ve booked my first session?

Once you’ve booked your first session, you will be sent a form to learn a little bit about you and your history. This is incredibly important as it allows me to adapt the session to your needs and to ensure that the treatment is suitable for you. This will also save us some time in the session to allow the most amount of time for treatment. You will then receive an email reminder of the appointment within the days leading up to it. On the day, you can find me at 25A High Street in Kings Langley.

where can I park?

There are two free car parks within a 5 minute walk from the clinic...

  • The Nap, Kings Langley, WD48ET
  • Langley Hill Car Park, 2 Langley Hill, Kings Langley, WD49HD

Alternatively, there is free on-street parking for 1 hour with a 2 hour no-return along the highstreet.

what can I expect to feel after the treatment?

You should feel less tense, possibly taller, lighter, and more open in posture. It's normal to experience some soreness in the 1-2 days following treatment, similar to the feeling of DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) after a workout.

how can I pay?

There are a few options on how you can pay:

  • When creating an account when booking online, you have the option to save a credit card on file. This allows for quick and easy payments after a session, and will never be charged without your knowledge.
  • During your booked session you can pay by contactless or cash.

do I need a GP referral?

No referral is needed at all to book in with Fern and Flex.

can under 18s book in for a sports massage?

Absolutely. Anyone under the age of 18 can have treatment, but will need a parent or guardian to attend the session with them.

what's your cancellation policy?

Your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you. When appointments are missed or canceled with short notice, it prevents other clients from utilizing that time for their treatments. While we understand that unexpected situations can arise, as a small business, we kindly request as much advance notice as possible if you're unable to attend your appointment.

Cancellations made within 36 hours of your scheduled time will incur a fee: £20 for a 60-minute session, £40 for a 90-minute session, and £50 for a 120-minute session. In the case of a missed appointment without any prior notice, the full session fee will be charged.
